10 Most Underrated 90s Teen Films

8. Can't Hardly Wait

Can't Hardly Wait is one of those films that was on the cusp of being one of the most well known films of the 90s, and to be fair, this one isn't nearly as overlooked as a lot of the others on this list. But in my opinion, it should be up there with the best the decade had to offer. As is often the case in these kinds of films, the main couple isn't really much to write home about. Ethan Embry and Jennifer Love Hewitt are sweet, but it's the large ensemble cast that really makes this film stand out. Sometimes it seems like half of Hollywood was in this film when they were just starting out. I cherish every moment of Seth Green desperately trying to sound gangsta in the hopes that it will make him cool and accepted. I love the scene where Hewitt explodes at Peter Facinelli's a**hole jock, turning the crowd against him until he's practically in tears, yelling that he's going to kick everyone's ass in this room! And I will never forget uber-geek William's elaborate revenge plot which goes tragically wrong. On the surface it might seem like just another teen movie, but there's so many brilliant little nuggets in it that have always made this one of my favorites, and are the reason why I can still watch it today, even though I'm long out of high school.
