Jim Carrey is one of the few comedic actors who can successfully transition to serious movies, although the public perception of him is still more in line with his lowbrow humour in 90's movies such as Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura. His performances in Man on the Moon, The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind earned him critical acclaim in the form of two Golden Globe Awards and a BAFTA nomination. His ability to bring his inherent likeability into a film that has been interpreted in so many different ways (The Truman Show) and a movie that takes place almost entirely inside his own head (Eternal Sunshine) helps make the movies as good as they are.
