10 Underrated Animated Movies You Have To See

7. Boy And The World (2013)

On a symbolic level, Boy and the World is all about economic hardships and social disparity. But on the surface, it's a gleefully child-like adventure about a young boy who journeys to the big city in hopes of finding his hardworking father.

Boy and the World is such an expressive and emotive movie that such a simple write-up struggles to capture its true magic. The whole thing is basically silent, save for some nonsensical ramblings and giggles (the film is Brazilian, and the gibberish you hear is actual dialogue, only spoken backwards), and told from the perspective of the young boy.

This child - known as Cuca - doesn't understand the things he's seeing, even if older audience members do, and instead he witnesses everything around him with innocent, humorous wonder.

Simply drawn and yet endlessly affecting, Boy and the World is a fun, touching burst of nostalgia and awe sure to please both young and old alike, and show the true extent of life's beauty in the process.
