10 Underrated Comedy Performances In Film
4. Ellie Kemper - 21 Jump Street (2012)
And the award for least amount of screen time for a performer on this list goes to…Ellie Kemper, for her portrayal of Ms. Griggs, a girl-next-door high school teacher who falls madly in lust with an undercover cop posing as one of her students.
With a little under two minutes of total screen time, Kemper manages to mesmerise us with her every moment on screen.
Looking like she’s been punched in the face when she first lays eyes on Channing Tatum’s Jenko, you can literally see the thoughts galloping through her brain as she wrestles with her own sense of right and wrong, all whilst wearing a warm, playful smile on her face. It’s such an insanely skilled and nuanced performance that it’s almost a travesty the character wasn’t given more screen time. But then, you should always leave them wanting more…
Stand-Out Moment: Confronting Jenko at the prom, despite them never having had any sort of prior relationship. "Get out of me, I'm gonna throw up. You're so hot.”
