2. Predator 2
After Predator's overwhelming success, fans wondered how - or if - those involved in the production could manage to recreate that magic a second time, especially when star Arnold Schwarzenegger chose to reprise his Terminator role in T2 instead of bringing Dutch back to face another alien hunter.
Predator 2 divided audiences, with many citing its city setting, overdone violence and lack of Arnie as reasons why it failed, while others praised its attempts to do something different. And, in all honesty, its the latter response that should have received more focus.
The fact is that Predator 2 doesn't attempt to play it safe by rehashing the original film's plot, instead it attempts to channel its formula into a brand new story in a brand new setting with brand new characters. It isn't a perfect result, but it is a very, very interesting one.
Not only is the idea of a Predator hunting in a concrete jungle actually pretty smart, the writers attempted to delve into the creature's origins a little bit, made him more of a character and even added a spice of humour because why the heck not, right?! And this specific Predator pairs up really well with Danny Glover's Mike Harrigan - who is nothing short of electric on-screen.
