10 Underwhelming Shock Twists That Made Films Worse

9. SPECTRE - It Was Blofeld The Whole Time!

As soon as Christoph Waltz was announced as the big bad in SPECTRE, fans instantly assumed he was playing the Supreme Commander of the terrorist group, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. However, the Austrian actor insisted he was playing a brand-new character called Oberhauser.

Film fans weren't buying this claim for one simple reason: the movie is called SPECTRE! Why would you name the film "SPECTRE" and not include its leader? The filmmakers could've mislead viewers if they gave the film any other title. Because they didn't, and Oberhauser's true identity left zero impact.

Sadly, it doesn't end there.

Oberhauser isn't just Blofeld... he's also James Bond's step-brother (which is also the plot of Austin Powers in Goldmember). It turns out that Blofeld was so jealous of his father showing affection to Bond that he killed him, faked his own death, and dedicated his life to making his sibling suffer.

Even though this twist is meant to be shocking, it makes Blofeld look desperate. His main motivation for building the world's largest and most powerful criminal empire was not to rule the world but to torture his brother because he felt like Bond stole his father's love.
