3. Jamie Foxx - All-Star Weekend

Like Amy Poehler, Jamie Foxx has worked in a fair few areas of the industry over the years, including a fairly successful stint as an R&B singer. With him, it’s maybe less surprising that he’s going into directing in 2019 than it is realising he’s never jumped behind the camera previously.

With All-Star Weekend though, the multi-talented star will rectify that. He’s worked under Quentin Tarantino, Michael Mann, Edgar Wright and Sam Mendes, so he’ll hopefully have learned a thing or two from some of the greats.

That said, his time working with the likes of Seth MacFarlane, Charlie Day and Dave Chapelle might be the most important, as Foxx’s debut is going to be a comedy about rival basketball teams.

It doesn’t seem as personal as some of the other projects here, but that might allow Foxx to relax and let loose more too.

He’s calling in favours as well; the cast boasts more stars than most first time directors can dream of, including many who’ve worked with Foxx previously. Robert Downey Jnr, Eva Longoria, Gerard Butler, Benicio Del Toro, Jeremy Piven and Jessica Szohr are all set to star, so Foxx definitely has talent at his disposal.
