10 Unfilmed Movie Scenes That Explain Crucial Details
Not so much a single scene as a collection of small snippets that explain away some nagging issues in The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan strangely opted to omit some rather important lines that would have stopped dead many of the complaints people had about the film.
Firstly, Talia al Ghul explains that the fusion reactor is not radioactive, and as such, when it detonates off-shore, there would have been no danger to Gotham's citizens. Then, there's the fact that, originally, Batman is not sighted in The Bat seconds before the bomb goes off, something that seems to have been altered in editing for maximum manipulative effect.
One of the more interesting exchanges scrubbed from the film, though, is a political suggestion by the Scarecrow while presiding over Bane's kangaroo court. Gordon remarks, as he does in the final film, that there's no due process or lawyers, and Crane retorts that this is "more than gave Harvey's prisoners", given the fraudulent nature of the Dent Act.
It's a telling, thought-provoking line, and one that would have perfectly encapsulated one of the film's key themes - the nature of justice.
