6. William Shatner - Star Trek: Generations
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8_oqgPwHfI It was a long time coming, most of us expected it, and despite how terrible an actor William Shatner has always been, we were kinda intrigued to see how Captain Kirk - whose legacy, for better or worse, is inestimable - would bite the bullet in this meshing of old-school and new-school Trek, Star Trek: Generations. So, surely it would make sense to give Kirk an epic death befitting his legacy, staying behind with a ship to hold off the bad guys while Picard escapes to preserve the new, ahem, generation? No, instead, they drop a bridge on him. Yes, you read that right. Not only did the film
make a trope out of such an event, but it managed to wind up just about every Star Trek fan that he was given such an unimaginative and bizarrely random death; something so inconsequential it feels like it's something one of the red-shirts should have happen to them. It's the ultimate bungle, taking what should have been an emotional high-point of not only the film, but the series entire, and making of it a joke. Shatner's stiltedly-performed death monologue didn't help, either.
