10 Unmade Tim Burton Films That Would Have Been Awesome

There couldn't be anything else at number one on our list. Far from simply being the most famous abandoned Tim Burton project, Superman Lives has become a legend of unmade cinema in general.

Following on from his hugely successful reinvention of the Caped Crusader, Burton was assigned the job of relaunching the Man of Steel. The film would have starred comic book fan Nicolas Cage as Supes with a greater emphasis on Superman's nature as an outsider, better fitting in with Burton's style. With a script written by Kevin Smith and Wesley Strick, Burton planned to make the film in time for release in 1998, the character's 60th anniversary. Yet due to disagreements with the studio, Burton left the project and the film never happened.

Fans of both superhero movies and Burton films have been lamenting the loss of Superman Lives for years, with a film about the film even being recently released titled The Death Of Superman Lives. With all this attention so many years later it looks likely that Superman Lives will not only be remembered as an unmade Tim Burton film that would have been awesome but as one of the most intriguing movies that was never made.
