10 Unnecessary Horror Movie Details You NEED To Know
7. IT (1990) - Crew Members Actively Avoided Tim Curry On Set
Now, it goes without saying that Tim Curry is a stupendous, ridiculous powerhouse of an actor. The guy can play anything from a "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" to the devil incarnate, all the way to an entire family of hillbilly murderers all at once. His outing as Stephen King's arguably most terrifying creation could potentially be the pinnacle of the actor's best portrayals.
In fact, Curry was so convincing that even the cast and crew who saw him hours before having his make-up applied the very same day were absolutely shaken to their cores by the mere sight of him. The reason was simple, especially to anyone that has seen the two-part miniseries. Tim Curry dressed as Pennywise the clown was enough to instil fear in the masses of people who tuned in to watch it. Now imagine that he was casually walking around in broad daylight amongst civilised people like some sort of multicoloured spectre. Sounds terrifying, doesn't it?
It's bad enough when you have adults who are scared of you during a movie production, but when the cast is nearly completely comprised of young actors - with most of them being preadolescents - then you should logically have a recipe for disaster. Well, either a recipe for disaster or genuine greatness when the cameras roll and those horrified expressions on many children's faces remain, if not grow.
