As much as we're all insanely familiar with The Wizard of Oz, a little-seen detail recently went viral, highlighting that the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) can be briefly seen brandishing a gun as he, Dorothy (Judy Garland), and company head off to battle the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton).

The gun is never addressed within the plot or by any of the characters, and despite being a freaking gun, it somehow manages to blend enough into the fabric of the scene that literally millions of people have never even noticed it.

When this revelation went viral, many assumed the images of the gun were Photoshopped, the so-called "Mandela effect" convincing them that their memories of a gun-less Scarecrow couldn't be wrong.

Apparently the gun's appearance would've been explained by the film's cut "Jitterbug" sequence, in which the heroes were to take up arms against the titular critter.

Though the gun was easily missed on lower-fidelity displays and releases of the movie in years past, now that it's available on 4K Blu-ray we really don't have an excuse for not seeing it.
