10 Unused Film Endings That Were Better Than The Real Thing

10. Paranormal Activity Could Have Been Way More Chilling

Whilst it's since become a comparatively slick Hollywood product that churns out a barely-related sequel every Halloween, the Paranormal Activity series started off as a pretty cool little indie film. The found footage set up was more out of necessity than anything else, with Oren Peli producing the film out of his own pocket. The film was originally made on a modest budget of $15,000, using relative unknowns Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat in the starring roles. It was this version that eventually made its way to Steven Spielberg's offices at Dreamworks, where he offered to pick up the picture for a wider distribution...with some changes. The ending most saw to the story of a haunting of a small suburban home saw the woman of the house possessed, killing her husband and tossing his body at the camera set up in their room. It was a little OTT for a subtle, slow-burn film, with some crummy CGI. Compare that to the version you didn't see, where the cops come in and shoot her dead, leaving the €œsupernatural€ element more in question...
