The sequel to Steven Soderbergh's comedy-drama (with extra emphasis on the drama) film Magic Mike will look different than the original with director Gregory Jacobs stating that they won't be accused of simply making the same movie twice. XXL certainly has a more comedic presence, with the male strippers taking a road trip for a stripping convention in Myrtle Beach. The gang will be without boss Dallas, as Matthew McConaughey is sitting this one out. McConaughey is being replaced by a truly eclectic cast, however, with Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard and retired professional wrestler Ric Flair joining the team. Given the success of the first film and the star power of the cast (especially Channing Tatum), this one should do big business and, hopefully, tickle the old funny bone along the way so long as they dial down the drama of Soderbergh's original.
