10 Upcoming Comic Book Films (And Who Should Direct Them)

6. Batgirl: Lexi Alexander

Lexi Alexander is perhaps best known for her work on the criminally underrated Punisher: War Zone - a film that, until Netflix came a knocking, offered just about the most authentic onscreen Punisher to date.

Alexander has also played a vocal role in highlighting sexism throughout the entertainment industry, and has spoken at length regarding the various directorial opportunities that have been denied to her because of her gender. She's an immensely talented filmmaker too, and, coming off the back of two gigs on Arrow and Supergirl respectively, is more than ready to helm another big screen feature.

Much has ben discussed in regards to Joss Whedon's involvement in Batgirl, and while yes, the director does have the kind of experience to make it work, one can't help but feel that DC are missing a trick in not making it another women-led project. Certainly so, given the emphatic reaction to this summer's Wonder Woman.

Alexander would be a brilliant candidate for the job in any case, and would bring an edge to the flick that few directors would be able to match. Let's make it happen DC!
