The film that practically every movie fan on the planet is looking forward to the most this year is, of course, Star Wars: The Force Awakens - for millions of fanboys around the world, December 18th can't come quickly enough. The reaction to the latest trailer (and the 50 million hits it's had on YouTube so far) pretty much sums up the buzz around The Force Awakens - after the hugely disappointing prequels hopes are resting on J. J. Abrams pulling out the stops and delivering a film which feels true to the essence of the original trilogy. He's certainly got the look down - few people are complaining about the visual style, and his promise to keep CGI to a mimimum has been welcomed - allthough whether he has what it takes to craft a story that is compelling and interesting remains to be seen. As entertaining as his Star Trek movies were as action films, they hardly broke free from seen-it-all-before Hollywood plot devices and character development. Still, whether or not the story is any good, chances are the kid in you will think it's awesome - and your kids will agree.
