Sony Pictures' Morbius is one of the many movies hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, with that Jared Leto-starrer initially booked in for a July 2020 release.

Here we are, over a year later, and Morbius is currently scheduled to arrive in January of next year.

While Leto's previous comic book-driven role - as in, a certain Clown Prince of Crime - didn't go down all that well, the casting of the charismatic Academy Award winner as Michael Morbius could prove to be a truly inspired one.

Given how the character of Morbius is a bloodsucker who has headed up comic book titles such as Adventure into Fear, Vampire Tales, and Strange Tales, this is someone has is far more entrenched in horror than so many of his fellow heroes and villains. As such, Daniel Espinosa's is serving up a slice of superhero horror for audiences to feast on.

To this day, Blade and Blade II are held on a pedestal when it comes to how to creature a movie that adds a generous dollop of dark and sinister horror to the usual capes 'n' tights action. And much like next March's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, hope is high that Morbius can similarly showcase the more eerie, chilling side of Marvel Comics.
