10 Upcoming Horror Movies That Will Scare The S**t Out Of You

4. Nope

The Hatching
Universal

Director: Jordan Peele

Starring: Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun

Release Date: 22 July 2022

Contemporary horror filmmaker Jordan Peele is one of the biggest names in the canon and has proven himself a huge draw among fans of the genre (and has likely converted a few skeptics).

The plot of Nope is being kept tightly under wraps and little is known outside of basic IMDb details. The trailer, still suitably vague, mimics a celebratory advertisement for "the only black owned horse trainers in Hollywood," with the charismatic Keke Palmer taking centre stage. However, dancing and joy give way to darkness and disturbance.

The audience themselves are left in the dark using a shift to the sinister without any solid point of familiarity to anchor their impressions onto. The question "What's a bad miracle?" is asked in the trailer, and that doesn't sound too good for any character involved.

The imagery alludes to alien trouble from the sky, leading most to expect a sci-fi horror, yet, it is unlikely that audiences will be clued in to what they are about to experience until they sit down in the cinema.
