10 Upcoming Horror Remakes Nobody Asked For
1. Witchboard
Not content to have his own remake of The Blob remade, director Chuck Russell has himself embarked on a remake of Witchboard, the 1986 supernatural horror about a college student who is terrorised by a malevolent entity after using a Ouija board.
While hardly a critical success, the original Witchboard performed modestly well at the box office and has sustained a cult following ever since release, albeit hardly on the level of most of the movies on this list.
And so, it just didn't seem like a prime prospect for the remake treatment, especially given that Hollywood released the similarly themed horror Ouija a decade ago.
Credit where it's due, though - while nobody was asking for a new Witchboard, early festival reviews have largely praised it as a worthy redo, noting Russell's canny decision to lean into the camp rather than reimagine the story more seriously.
Nobody was asking for this, but it sure sounds like the filmmakers got away with it.
