9. Black Mask Is Only Handsome In Harley's Mind - Birds Of Prey

The first trailer for Birds of Prey looks absolutely wild, and though it remains to be seen whether or not the movie will be yet another DC disappointment, it's certainly brimming with both talent and mesmerising imagery.

One of the more intriguing characters seen in the trailer is Roman Sionis aka Black Mask, as clearly played with a certain campy glee by Ewan McGregor.

But fans were more than a little miffed that McGregor is only featured in the trailer bearing his handsome mug, while the supervillain's iconic mask is nowhere to be seen.

While the obvious practical answer is that Warner Bros. didn't want to keep Ewan McGregor under a mask for the entire movie and it's possible that he only wears it in the third act, there's a compelling theory that what we're seeing is simply Harley's deluded vision of Sionis.

Given that the trailer shows off numerous surreal sequences where Harley disappears into her own demented imagination, it's not a huge leap to consider that this slick, suave, well-groomed Roman is a fabrication in her mind, and later in the movie, the rug will be pulled out to reveal his more terrifying masked appearance.

Considering that the film clearly continues the themes of psychological abuse prevalent in Suicide Squad, with Sionis believing Harley to be his "possession," it's entirely possible her titular emancipation will occur when she finally sees Roman as he truly is - a crude ghoul hidden behind a mask.
