The Film: SpongeBob SquarePants hits that sweet spot of being a children's show that offers enough to transcend its age restriction and garner its own adult audience (maybe not to the extent of Adventure Time, but it's still impressive). The fruit-dwelling sponge got his first feature outing back in 2004 to kid (and kidult) joy, but despite its success it took over a decade for a second to appear; the sequel, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water, arrives next year, boasting the same blend of live-action and cartoon as the first, although this one has the distinction of the latter being in fancy 3D animation. The Title: We can forgive the shortening of the show's title - SpongeBob has grown above the shape of his trousers - but can't get our heads around the rest of the title. That Sponge Out Of Water pun is bad (seriously, why do studios think a joke title is ever a good idea), but it's what the film thinks its series is called that really throws us. We already got The SpongeBob Movie ten years ago - they clearly remember because they reference it in the trailer - which means this title is in fact coining the group name of all SpongeBob's big screen adventures as The SpongeBob Movie. Suddenly The Divergent Series doesn't look so bad.
