4. Tom Hiddleston - High-Rise
While one of the main drawbacks with some of the previous entries in the Marvel movie franchise has been the lack of a great villain, that certainly doesn't apply to those which feature Loki as the main bad guy. He's a fan favourite thanks largely to Tom Hiddleston's energetic, sometimes manic performance in the role. As is perhaps evident from his portrayal of Loki, Hiddleston's acting background is as something of a thespian, while away from the blockbusters he's worked with some exceptional directors including Terrence Davies and Jim Jarmusch. His upcoming starring role in Ben Wheatley's adaptation of J. G. Ballard's High Rise will no doubt further consolidate his art house credentials. Perhaps a bigger question is whether or not he'll make an appearance again as Loki - he was set to appear in Avengers: Age Of Ultron but unfortunately the scene was deleted since, in the words of Joss Whedon, "it didn't play".
