10 Upcoming Movies That Are Definitely Going To Bomb

4. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Based on the iconic tabletop RPG, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is intended to mark the beginning of a wider D&D franchise, with several TV shows already in development that will "complement" their big-screen cousins.

Rather than doing the wise thing and waiting to see how the first project performs before greenlighting a whole host of extras, here we have another example of a studio getting ahead of itself (remember Universal's plans for a "Dark Universe", or Lionsgate's hopes for seven Power Rangers movies?), because there's a good chance that this budding cinematic universe will stumble right out the gate.

For one thing, an attempt has already been made at turning Dungeons & Dragons into a blockbuster franchise, and the results... well, they weren't great. 2000's Dungeons & Dragons was both a critical and commercial failure, and though Honor Among Thieves is clearly more of a glitzy, well-produced package, it's impossible to ignore the fact that this IP has failed on the big-screen once before.

Furthermore - and not to feel like we're ragging on him too much in this article - we again have to point out that Chris Pine's box-office history is against him when it comes to these kinds of tentpoles. Plus, this is the kind of movie that needs to hit over $300 million in order to be considered a success - but swords-and-sandals cinema hasn't been a hot ticket in over a decade.
