10 Upcoming Movies That Aren't What You Think
6. It's Not Like Get Out Or Us - Nope
In total fairness, we know almost nothing concrete about Jordan Peele's new film horror Nope, but considering that Peele's two previous features have both been horror films steeped in social commentary about race and class inequality in America, it's reasonable to expect something similar here.
And while we still don't have an official synopsis for the film, early rumblings are suggesting that Nope will break with Peele's "formula" to date and deliver a more heightened, spectacle-focused horror experience.
This would make sense given that Peele's film has been shot partially on 65mm film for IMAX, and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema is best known for his work on Christopher Nolan's recent movies.
The intriguing first poster indicates that the film may revolve around a sinister cloud descending upon a remote town, but what may be contained within the cloud - aliens? clowns? nothing at all? - is anyone's guess.
If you're anticipating something in a similar vein to Get Out or Us, you're advised to recalibrate your expectations. With Nope due to release in July, hopefully we're not too far out from the first trailer dropping and confirming what's going on.
