10 Upcoming Movies That Could Bomb At The Box Office
2. Robin Hood
It isn't a good sign when the first trailer for an upcoming blockbuster immediately brings to mind memories of last year's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, one of the biggest box office bombs in history. Yet such a fate has already befallen Robin Hood, with Otto Bathurst's feature debut already facing an uphill battle to convince audiences to part with their cash based on sheer apathy alone.
As if the superficial similarities to Guy Ritchie's infamous dud aren't enough, the project even originated from a script by King Arthur's Joby Harold, who is executive producing this time around. Not only that, but it has also been less than a decade since Ridley Scott's $200m Robin Hood, another expensive misfire that isn't held in particularly high regard by either critics or fans.
Aesthetically, the footage comes across as a hybrid of King Arthur and Assassin's Creed which is hardly encouraging given how those movies turned out, while it remains to be seen exactly why we needed yet another retelling of a story that has existed in some form or another for over half a millennia. It may be a little too soon to write Robin Hood off entirely yet, but if this thing turns out to be a hit then it will come as a huge shock to most people.
