5. Chappie

Chappie looks like one of the weirdest movies ever - which means, of course, that it could wind up with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score should the critics take to it in the way that director Neill Blomkamp presumably intends them to: as a sort of allegory for... well, that's not entirely clear yet, to be honest. Neill Blomkamp was the genius behind Distract 9, though, so it's probably wise to give this picture - which concerns the adventures of a robot named Chappie (Sharlto Copley) who is programmed to think and feel - the benefit of the doubt... even if two of the main characters are played by members of a South African rap group named "Die Antwoord." Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver are also in this movie, which - going by its trailer - looks to be a little on the sentimental side. But it's probably going to be a case of "there's more than meets the eye" with this one, especially since it's a Blomkamp movie and surprises are his forte. Not to mention the visual effects look downright stunning. A 100% rating could be a genuine possibility.
