9. It's Not The Solo Movie It Should Be - Birds Of Prey
Aside from simply having a ridiculous title (which will undoubtedly be shortened to just ‘Birds Of Prey’ by everyone), Birds Of Prey is keeping it in the family with another DC movie which looks set to fall short before it’s even been released.
Going back to the title quickly, as well as being silly, it’s clearly trying to cash in on the Harley Quinn hype. However, the fact they haven’t just made it a Harley Quinn solo movie means she likely isn’t getting enough screen time to justify calling it one; a move bound to upset some Harley fans.
That said, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. The fact remains though that Birds Of Prey needs to introduce a significant amount of characters, somehow haul them up to Harley Quinn’s level, and then defeat the two villains within a runtime of likely around two hours. Oh, and Harley’s narrative can’t upset her established Suicide Squad story either.
Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask both sound intriguing, but when Huntress, Renee Montoya and Black Canary all need to feature heavily too, it feels a little overstuffed.
