8. The Entertainment System Is Down

The plot for The Entertainment System Is Down - the new film from Triangle of Sadness director Ruben Östlund - sounds more like an SNL skit than, y'know, an actual movie. Mileage will probably vary on whether that's a good or bad thing.

The film will unfold on a long-haul flight where the onboard entertainment system goes down, forcing a group of passengers to deal with the existential peril of... crushing boredom for the rest of the flight.

The satirical potential speaks for itself, though it's hardly much of a startling revelation that humanity has become frighteningly reliant on convenient modern tech. 

And so, it'll be intriguing to see how Östlund takes a skit-worthy setup and carries it through a feature-length runtime.

In the very least he's certainly got one hell of a cast aboard already, with the brilliant likes of Kirsten Dunst, Daniel Brühl, Keanu Reeves, Samantha Morton and Nicholas Braun signed to star.
