10 Upcoming Netflix Movies That Are Probably Going To Suck

2. El Camino Christmas

Bright Will Smith
Netflix

Release Date: December 8, 2017

Another Christmas-themed flick that's set to hit Netflix in a matter of days. Unfortunately the trailer doesn't offer much in the way of hope:

With Tim Allen, Jessica Alba and Dax Shephard (has there ever been a more lackluster assemblage?), the plot focuses on a young man - played by Luke Grimes - who winds up taking five people hostage in a liquor store on Christmas Eve.

"Starring Tim Allen" has never been the mark of a solid film, and El Camino Christmas... well, let's say it probably isn't set to break that trend.

The trailer shows a movie that looks as though it's hit an awkward spot between ultra-violent thriller and awkward comedy, with no real indication as to which one it would rather be. Some of the scenes look serious, whilst others are slapstick, and then saccharine. The presence of Tim Allen indicates a comedy, of course, but he doesn't get to say anything funny (except for that unexpected use of the F-word).

The comedy content seems to have hit a pretty low bar, too: one joke revolves around a cop mishearing another cop saying "Stand down" as "Man down," but that's it. There's no punchline to the joke, and yet that's the best gag that the trailer could manage, apparently. More than likely this'll be one to skip.
