10 Upcoming Non-English Language Films To Look Out For In 2023

Barcelona-born director Victor Garcia has had quite the career in the world of cinema.

He supplied effects for the Pedro Almodóvar film Talk to Her, before collaborating with Guillermo del Toro on a number of projects including Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy.

After a bunch of his films went into development hell, Garcia finally emerged with his first full-length directorial effort Return to House on Haunted Hill.

Unfortunately, this was not well-received.

Neither were a lot of Garcia's follow-ups, which include the direct-to-video sequels Mirrors 2 and Hellraiser: Revelations. That last one was so bad, Hellraiser creator Clive Barker cussed Garcia out in a tweet.

But hey, we all deserve a second chance... or a fifth ... and Garcia's latest film might just buck his trend.

It's called The Communion Girl and it's another horror. Set in the '80s, it follows two young women on their way back from a night out when they discover a sinister looking doll sat in the middle of the road.

There is certainly enough to this premise and Garcia managed to secure the services of young soap opera star Carla Campra in the lead role.

Anyway, if it's rubbish at least it'll be funny.
