10 Ways 2017 Movies Definitely Made Us Dumber

8. We’re Still Watching Dead Franchises

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. If that’s true then the studios, directors and actors that crack out suspiciously similar and subpar sequels year after year must be insane.

In their defence though, at least they have a financial incentive which means us mere mortal moviegoers who willingly part with our hard-earned cash to see Hollywood keep flogging the proverbial dead horse must be the truly stupid ones.

In 2017, our stupidity was out in force as we entertained an epidemic of movies suffering from a serious case of franchise fatigue from The Fate of the Furious – the eighth instalment the Fast & Furious franchise has churned out in 16 years – to Michael Bay’s latest s**tty Transformers movie and the most recent (and most terrible) chapter in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

By continuously consuming and financially rewarding such lazy and hackneyed sequels which, truth be told, are essentially a rehash of the films that came before it only with slightly different titles we’re just encouraging Hollywood’s unoriginality and making ourselves look silly in the process.
