10 Ways Comic Book Movies Keep F*cking Up Female Characters

6. TV Does It Better

Maybe female heroes just aren't meant for the big screen?

This year's Suicide Squad quickly became the Harley Quinn show, but Margot Robbie's standout performance was lost under a slew of horrible reviews. Similar reasoning might be why Marvel have so far resisted focusing heavily on female charactrs. Without the big battle for box office results, television has a lot more freedom when it comes to female characters.

Already on television - Marvel's Jessica Jones is doing wonders for herself after first appearing in 2015 and the series went on to critical acclaim. Then you have Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, who is far more well-rounded than her cinema counterparts.

Drawn out over 10+ episodes, that is five times more character development than your average film has. So, with large ensemble films it is no wonder the heroines don't get a look in. Personally, I am more than happy for female characters to get their kicks on our TV if it means doing it right.
