No matter how much you love Batman, or how devoted to you are to Superman, there's very little doubting that Marvel Studios are in the ascendancy, and DC Entertainment are lagging behind. It doesn't just come down to quality - on paper and side by side, some DC movies can compete toe to toe, especially when you're talking about Nolan's films, and indeed Man Of Steel, which gets more harsh criticism than it is due (despite being idiotically written.) Marvel have simply stolen marches, planned astutely and released the right films (with a few blips) and stuck to an agenda focused on building the brand of the series, instead of just stand-alone projects. But now could be the perfect time for DC to strike - Marvel are entering a relatively unknown period, faced with recapturing, and even outshining the heights of Phase one, and with a relatively unknown quantity coming in the shape of Guardians Of The Galaxy. If either of those key stages falters, thanks to the weight of expectations, Marvel might lose some ground. And with Batman vs Superman coming, DC might well have the foundation they need to claw back and build on their reputation as a film-making studio. Here's how DC can step out of Marvel's shadow...
