10 Ways Joker's Origin Movie Could Completely Change The DCEU

9. More Prequels

The most obvious ramification that could emerge from said Joker film is that it could, potentially, provoke an influx of superhero prequels. Comic book origin stories went the way of the dodo in the wake of the muted reaction to Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, especially since most audiences are already acclimatised to the respective origins of cinema's comic book protagonists, but that doesn't mean a revival isn't on the cards.

Better still, prequels don't even necessarily have to follow a given origin. In Bat-fleck's case, there's a whole crime fighting career out there to explore, seeing as how BVS opted for an older, more rugged take on the character. That, along with the fact that out-of-universe projects are now on the cards, means that prequels engender a kind of unpredictability to WB's creative slate. Any character - and universe - is game, and that makes things really, really exciting.

Wonder Woman acted as a prequel (of sorts) to Batman v Superman, and, while that hasn't invoked a prequel laden response from either DC or their rivals (Captain Marvel being the only potential comparison), a unique, out of universe spin-off certainly could.
