10 Ways Suicide Squad Shows The DCEU Is Irreversibly F*cked

4. Flashback/Vision Baiting

There was a moment in Suicide Squad where it took all my power to not scream out "It's exactly the f*cking same as Batman V Superman"; the Harley Quinn origin.

It plays out in almost the exact same fashion as the competently constructed, but entirely nonsensical Knightmare sequence from Dawn Of Justice, with the film cutting coldly from the main action to this tangential scene, playing out in an oddly cribbed fashion, and then resolving itself in mere seconds. Forgoing the content of the scenes, it's crazy that two moments have been presented almost identically, and this points towards an even more ingrained meddling within the wider desperation of the edits.

There's no justification to any of this, and it only further plays into the obsession with flashbacks and visions that really overbears the latter two DCEU films and are executed with such flat character presentation their innate coolness is flubbed.

Why couldn't this be conveyed within the narrative of the movie at hand, haunting Harley and revealed through Margot Robbie in the moment? Oh, I guess that would take too much scriptwriting skill.
