7. Less Opportunities For Original Projects

With so many superhero movies in the works as a result of the MCU's success, it's fair to assume that movie studios are less inclined to pursue "original" movies in place of those based on established properties. After all, movie-making is a business; the main aim of any picture is to ultimately generate lots of money. As a studio, it makes sense to pursue projects with a fanbase already built-in. And so the superhero flicks keep on coming... That's not to say that Marvel should stop making movies, nor is it a criticism of their business plan. It's a fantastic business plan, after all. It just so happens that a negative side effect associated with the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all that it offers up has resulted in fewer original blockbusters. Which is a shame. For every Superman or Batman movie that finds its way into the existence in this era, the world probably loses an Inception, or a Looper, or a Matrix...
