10 Ways The MCU Isn't For You Anymore

2. Death Is Meaningless

In the world of comics, death is only a mild convenience. Whether a superhero is blown up, decapitated, or chopped or erased from existence, there's nothing stopping them from returning from the dead two issues later.

Sadly, this issue applies to comic book adaptations as well.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos wiped out half of all life in the universe, including half of the superheroes of Earth. But because we knew they would return the following year, this moment didn't have the same weight it would have if their deaths were permanent.

Sadly, this is but one example. Loki seemingly perished in Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and Avengers: Infinity War, and yet, he's still breathing. One character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will likely return despite the fact they died in the film for the fourth time.

If Thanos returned in a future instalment, no one would be surprised, even though he was reduced to atoms in Avengers: Endgame. And why would we be surprised? Because death is irrelevant in the MCU, nobody cares when anyone kicks the bucket or is resurrected.
