10 Ways The MCU Was Almost Unrecognizable

3. No Black Panther Or Captain Marvel

Before we proceed, something needs to be addressed: if you're one of those people who think that Black Panther and Captain Marvel are "SJW garbage", you immediately invalidate any opinion you have about anything else, because that's moronic. Now, as for the grown-ups: let's proceed.

For awhile, there was a chance that neither of these movies ever see the light of day. These movies, both of which grossed over $1 billion and turned previously B-list characters into household names. Why? That's quite simple, really, and it has to do with one man: Ike Perlmutter.

Remember this, because it'll be important for later: Ike Perlmutter isn't the best judge of what people want, let's say.

He didn't believe that movies about women and non-whites would make any money. He was also behind the conspicuous absence of Black Widow and Gamora toys, as he didn't believe that female superhero toys would sell.

It took Marvel Studios being separated from Marvel Entertainment for Feige to finally have the freedom he needed to make these movies. But what if he hadn't?

No final battle in Wakanda.

No Skrulls.

No Killmonger.

No "Yibambe".

No Monica Rambeau (appearing in Wandavision).

No Project Pegasus.

No vibranium (which means no Vision, which means no Wandavision).

A lot of great things would be absent.
