9. They Live By The Quantum Leap Motto
Do you remember the classic monologue from Sam Becketts existential sci-fi drama? Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Doctor Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator - and vanished. He awoke to find himself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not his own, and driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. His only guide on this journey is Al, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and hear. And so Doctor Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap... will be the leap home.or something to that effect. It is unlikely that you will come across a time traveller who is out to cause havoc. Generally speaking, time travellers are a noble bunch who seek to protect humankind from a) natural disasters, b) undisclosed turmoil, c) other time travelling threats. Some travellers are aware of their mission, whilst the rest discover their calling along the way. But whatever the case may be, they always triumph in the end. They say you can always trust a policeman. Well you should most definitely always trust a time traveller. Most likely to say: I can stop it all from happening.
