1. Your Partner Is Perfect
What first attracted you to your partner was their unbelievably good looks. Their hair was always perfect, their skin always perfect, their clothes always perfect. Their watch matched their shoes, which matched their wallet and there was never a speck of dirt under their fingernails. They were too good to be true. Which is exactly the point. They are too good to be true. Despite their perfect exterior, they are far from perfect. In fact, I have come to understand that the more perfect the shell, the more scrambled the egg. Patrick Bateman, American Psychos poster child of obsessive-compulsive blood lust, was just such an egg. Worked out every morning, had a tanning bed in his apartment, and gave himself facial treatments daily. He spent hours agonizing over his business cards and how they measure up to his colleagues. All that pressure of being perfect causes tiny, little cracks in the crazy dam until WHOOSH! All that crazy spills all over the place in one long, bloody massacre.
