10 Weird Rules That Only Ever Work In TV & Movies

5. Tough Guy Characters Can Drink Spirits Easily

Establishing that heroes or villains are not a force to be reckoned with can be a pretty easy road to navigate; whether they look badass with a gun in their hand, deliver a sick burn to an antagonist or demonstrate their fearlessness by staring down their enemy, we can safely say that the person on screen is one tough cookie.

What sometimes unnecessarily gets added to their characteristic like is how unflinching our muscle-bound badass heroes behave when they're downing a strong alcoholic drink.

Now it may just be that these characters have gained that unique tolerance to the taste of super-bitter spirits and aperitifs, but it does seem strange that we don't see more characters take almighty swigs of whiskey and immediately wince or twist their face.

Maybe this gripe is too specific, but wouldn't it have been more realistic if during that scene in Justice League when Aquaman chugs an entire bottle of whiskey down the pier, instead of letting the waves consume and carry him out to sea, Jason Momoa smashes the bottle on the ground and a second later he dry heaves and curls over. Atlantian or not, that move should have wrecked him for hours.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
