10 Weirdest Cult Horror Movies You Need To See
6. Tokyo Gore Police
When most people think of Japanese horror, they tend to cast their minds to haunted houses, bleak narratives and a bunch of pale, ghostly women who could all do with a trip to the barbers.
Whilst moody and unsettling ghost stories are responsible for Eastern horror gaining prominence in the West, the hardcore aficionados amongst us know that the one thing Asia does better than anywhere else is nonsensical gore-fests.
Perhaps the most ridiculous and blisteringly entertaining of the bunch is Tokyo Gore Police. An incredibly bizarre and perverse slice of ultra-violence that completely lives up to its namesake.
A virus begins to spread amongst the citizens of Tokyo, turning them into creatures known as "Engineers", who when injured sprout weaponry from their gaping wounds. The only way that the Tokyo police force are capable of dealing with this new threat is to resort to militarised violence and sadistic street executions.
Making good on its name sake, the film absolutely delivers in the blood and guts department. Limbs, heads and all manner of organs are chopped, ripped and spread about the place in an orgy of violence that never lets up.
Certainly one for you all sick puppies out there.
