10 Weirdest Decisions In Star Wars History

9. Obi-Wan Allows Anakin To Escort Padmé To Naboo

In Attack of the Clones, Anakin (Hayden Christensen) is tasked with escorting Padmé (Natalie Portman) back to Naboo, where the pair predictably end up falling in love and frolicking around, as is forbidden by the Jedi Code.

The thing is, this all could've been prevented by Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor), who was very clearly aware of Anakin's feelings for Padmé per their interactions earlier in the film.

Why did Obi-Wan say nothing when the Jedi Council gave Anakin his mission? He could've either had somebody else assigned to Padmé or, better yet, gone with the pair himself and acted as a chaperone of-sorts.

Ultimately of course, the creative rationale for this lies in George Lucas needing to get Anakin and Padmé together romantically eventually, in order to set the entire future events of the franchise in motion.

Even so, it's an odd decision on Obi-Wan's part - at best a compassionate lapse of judgment to let Anakin have some downtime with Padmé, yet ultimately downright irresponsible given that Anakin is his Padawan.
