9. Bono - A $1,500 Plane Ticket... For His Hat
This must be one lucky hat.
In a story that will either come off as an enduringly funny mishap or an egregious abuse of excessive wealth, Bono bought a first class plane ticket, as well as taxi fares to and from the airports in London and Milan, all for a single hat.
Apparently, the U2 singer simply could not perform at Pavarotti's concert in Italy without this vital part of his costume, and being one of the biggest selling rockers of all time, money wasn't really an object.
In some reports, the hat was given its own first class seat, in others, it actually flew with the plane's captain himself. The plane ticket itself only cost around $600, but throw in the taxi fares and insurance for the hat (that's right, apparently hats need insurance) the amount came to an eye watering $1,500.
Despite the amount paid, it's really a minor miracle Bono got his hat on time, considering the fact that he left it on the other side of the Atlantic ocean. Still, the hardest part must have been explaining to the cab drivers that ferrying a hat was a genuine request, and not some bizarre YouTube prank.
