10 Weirdest Things Famous Actors Did With Their Money
5. Johnny Depp - A Private Island
Yes, you read that right. Johnny Depp owns a literal island like some B movie super villain. No word on any sort of secret underground lair, however.
The Island is called Little Hall Pond Cay and lies in the Bahamas region, located in the West Indies. It has six beaches, each named after someone special to Depp. Awwwww.
This includes Gonzo beach, named after journalist Hunter S. Thompson, and Brando beach, named after Marlon Brando. Before you ask, no, there is not a beach named Tortuga.
Little Hall Pond Cay apparently cost around $3.6 million, which actually isn't bad considering, once again, that this is a literal island. Even the private yacht to get there cost Depp more money, reportedly costing around $8 million.
See, it's always the commuting fares which get you.
If that's not enough, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, who is now a literal sailor in the Caribbean, also spent $3 million (or $5 million, if you ask the man himself) to shoot the aforementioned Thompson's ashes out of a cannon.
Why? God knows, but apparently it's what he wanted. Oh, to live the high life.
