The People Vs Larry Flynt is a 1996 movie depicting the rise of the titular Flynt - a strip club owner - as he and his wife, Althea, created a pornographic magazine which ignored society's morals and taboos. That magazine was "Hustler" - a publication which earned the Flynts millions in profit, but also the wrath of "decent" people. The movie spans approximately 35 years of Flynt's life, starting with his impoverished upbringing in Kentucky and ending with his court battle with the Reverend Jerry Falwell. Rather than presenting Flynt as an antagonist, the film depicts his struggle to make an honest living publishing his porn magazine and how it changes into a battle to protect the freedom of speech for all people. It also delves in to his personal life and troubles, such as his relationship with his wife and her fight with HIV and AIDS. Despite being a rather strange subject to base a movie on, it's actually pretty damn good.
