Is there anything film fans enjoy more than gorging themselves on rumours about exciting upcoming movies? It's truly addictive feasting upon all the scuttlebutt, from context-free set photos to apparent "leaks" from "insiders," and everything else in-between.

Even though many of these rumours typically end up being untrue, it's still a ton of fun to sift through all the possibilities and try to make sense of what's legit and what isn't.

Sometimes it's simply a case of fans getting overzealously creative with their crackpot theories, but sometimes those whispered-about rumours actually end being totally on the money against the odds.

And so, we turn to some of the most anticipated and buzzed-about films of the next year-or-so, which fans have been speculating on for a long, long time at this point.

These rumours, spawned from a variety of sources, point towards some deeply bold, twisted, and potentially divisive revelations in some of the biggest upcoming films from 2022 and beyond.

And yet, these rumours are so inventively off-the-wall for the most part that fans might actually be mad if they don't happen. Keep your fingers crossed, then...

10. The Story Is Focused On A New Protagonist, Corey Cunningham - Halloween Ends

If you've been keeping your ear to the ground on the production of Halloween Ends, there have been some extremely unexpected rumours doing the rounds as of late.

It's been confirmed that one of the film's new characters is a teenager by the name of Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), and according to prominent, reliable leaker ViewerAnon, far more of the movie revolves around him than audiences will be expecting.

He referred to Corey as a "new lead," while adding that he actually has a larger role in the film than either Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) or her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak).

Without going into specifics, he suggests that Corey is victimised by the town of Haddonfield for a past incident, and with an official character description stating that Corey is accused of murdering a child he babysat, the parallels between himself and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) are clear.

Fans are already abuzz that this could be teeing up the possibility of Corey inheriting the mantle of The Shape at the end of the movie, assuming Michael dies.

If the rumours are indeed true about the size of Corey's role, it'll certainly be interesting to see how honest the marketing is about it.
