10 Worlds Of DC Films That Need To Be Made

3. Green Lantern: Blackest Night

Blackest Night is one of the most shocking and violent comic book arcs in recent years and is too visceral and action packed not to bring to film. The story follows Nekron, who obtains a black ring of death similar to Green Lantern's ring of willpower, and revives dead superheroes as grotesque zombies to destroy all life in the universe.

While the action on earth, such as the brutal murders of the Elongated Man and his wife Sue are iconic moments, DC may have an easier time focusing only on the Lanterns, as the arc introduces the Red Ring of Rage (wielded by Atrocitus), and the blue ring of hope, wielded by Saint Walker.

The alliance of all the lanterns to overcome the ring of death is a fantastic prospect, and the introduction of the White Lantern could yet become an iconic scene in superhero cinema.

With a Green Lantern Corps film on the way, the pieces are already being placed to bring this story to life.
