2. Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock has been lightly amusing as the comic relief in a few great action films, such as Demolition Man and Speed, but they're hardly proof of her acting talents and really, neither is the absurdly condescending performance in The Blind Side that won her an Academy Award over Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, Gabourey Sidibe and Helen Mirren. Both before and after The Blind Side, Bullock has starred in a variety of underwhelming action films, sci-fi thrillers, rom-coms and supernatural dramas, which demonstrate her versatile marketability, but don't so much give her a chance to show off her acting potential, of which it appears there really isn't very much. The Blind Side was that one cloying film that somehow managed to connect with American audiences - think Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close from last year, which coincidentally also starred Bullock - and so strong was the wave of its momentum that it not only earned a Best Picture nomination, but dragged Bullock along for the ride. The jury's still out on whether she'll actually deliver a truly great performance, but we won't hold our breath.
