10 Worst Fox Marvel Movies

6. Dark Phoenix

As mentioned at the outset of this article, unless New Mutants finally sees the light of day theatrically, Dark Phoenix marks both the end of the X-Men franchise as we've come to know it over the past twenty years and the end of Fox's run of making Marvel movies.

It truly is unfortunate, then, that the X-Men are sent off with such a lack of enthusiasm. Surely a case can be made that it's no worse than, say, X-Men: Apocalypse or even X-Men: The Last Stand, but what makes Dark Phoenix such a colossal disappointment in ways those films necessarily weren't is the fact it marks the end of the franchise. This should've been something truly special as a goodbye to both these characters and this world, and yet it wasn't.

Aside from messing up "The Dark Phoenix Saga" yet again, it has a painfully uninteresting villain in Jessica Chastain's Vuk, never quite knows what to do - as usual - with characters like Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler, and wastes James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in particular. They've carried much of the franchise since its soft reboot in X-Men: First Class and deserved a send-off on par with Logan or Days of Future Past, which makes the fact that Dark Phoenix limps across the finish line all the more egregious.
